Technical Specialist, Market Systems Development
Vikāra Institute is seeking a Technical Specialist with diverse international experience to join our global team of systems thinkers.
Work Location: Remote, any location
Expected Travel: Up to 40%
Type of Contract: Full-time, ongoing
Language Requirement: English (French, Spanish, or other are desired)
About the Role:

Provide technical assistance to program implementation for Economic Development, Market Systems, and Resilience Programming.

Synthesize and analysis learning from within the Vikāra Institute portfolio to contribute to the design of tools, resources, and frameworks. Assist in conference submissions and the writing of blogs or other thought pieces.

Facilitate training, coaching, and mentoring with projects, organizations, and donors, including in-person and online facilitation techniques.

Contribute to the acquisition of new business development opportunities, feeding into the bid process, including technical writing, costing, and relationships.

Serve as a technical adviser as part of the market systems development and economic growth team.

Support Vikāra Institute in promoting best practice adaptive management and knowledge management with development programming.
About You (Core Competencies):

Experience living, working, and contributing within diverse cultures, ideally in a developing country context.

Ability to adapt and evolve your thinking in line with the organizational values.

Self-starter who can work asynchronously with clients and a global team, ability to work remotely.

Demonstrable experience in training and facilitating.

At least 5 years experience and subject matter expertise in economic development, Market Systems, and private sector development within a range of market systems.

Experience managing multiple complex work streams in a time-sensitive environment.

Flexibility to travel to various locations worldwide, multiple passports is a plus.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Preferable Experience:
-
Track record in leading and winning proposals or bids for work in a competitive context.

A proven ability to build rapport within a diverse range of clients and develop collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders at a leadership level.

Experience providing quality technical leadership and guidance to program implementation in an international organization setting.

Backstopping or providing programming management to USAID programs, as well as other donors.

Ability to communicate in French/Spanish is an added advantage.

Tertiary qualifications in related fields preferred.

Can multiple people use a single registration?Registration is for one per person only and cannot be shared.

Do speakers/presenters need to register for the Symposium? Can’t they just show up to their specific event?All speakers must register for the full Symposium and are eligible for a discounted Registration Fee. This is to encourage Speakers to engage with the attendees throughout the Symposium.

What happens if the event is cancelled?It is highly unlikely that this event will be cancelled. But as we saw in 2020, the event was postponed to adjust to the Covid -19 Pandemic. Organizers cannot be held liable if MSS needs to be postponed or cancelled for any reason.
